Recently, our boys and girls tennis teams competed in the state TAPPS tournament. Following in our tradition of exceptional high school athletics, Brook Hill came in second overall at the meet.
The girls that went to the state tennis competition were Shawn Adams, Danielle Adams, Avery Langemeier, Hayden Langemeier, and Marisa Quevedo. The boys that went to the state tennis competition were Alec Kitt, Philip Kitt and Pasha Zapolskyy.
Alec Kitt, Phillip Kitt, and Marisa Quevedo are the Brook Hill team members that placed individually in their events.
Alec and Phillip won first place in the boys doubles and Marisa won first place in the girls singles.
The state tennis meet took place in Waco, TX and lasted for two days, but the team was there for three days.
The team members had a lot of fun while they were playing, but they also had fun together when they were off the court. The only downside to the trip was the painful sunburn. Danielle Adams certainly regrets her decision not to wear sunscreen!
Tennis isn’t an easy sport to play, it requires a lot of concentration and accuracy. As Billie Jean King said, “Tennis is a perfect combination of violent action taking place in an atmosphere of total tranquility.”
And in the words of Mitch Hedberg, “The depressing thing about tennis is that no matter how good I get, I’ll never be as good as a wall.”
The next time you see our winning tennis athletes around, congratulate them on their amazing achievements and thank them for “serving up” a good reputation for the school.
