Winter Formal Recap

By Hayley DumesnilThe Great Gatsby

The night was young when all the Brook Hill high school students journeyed to the Bell Library on campus for the much anticipated Winter Formal. The theme was Great Gatsby and everyone was looking forward to it. The library was decorated elegantly with a total 20’s theme. There were cookies and desserts for everyone, as well as drinks.

The night began with a walk down the stairs from the second floor to the dance floor. Everyone was dressed to perfection and really embraced the theme. There was a large crowd and everyone seemed to be having lots of fun.

[Hint: stay on the outside of the dance circle if you want to keep your dignity and live. Just kidding. But not really. That’s what I did.]

Everyone was wondering why there was a giant parachute on the third floor, but we had to wait until the end of the night to find out. The third to last song was “We Owned the Night” by The Wanted, the adopted theme song for the senior class, and that is when the student council members let the parachute fall, revealing about a hundred balloons. They also shot off confetti and streamers. That was the best part of the night by far! It was so much fun. Everyone enjoyed himself or herself and was sad that the dance was over so soon.

Great job to student council for putting on the dance; it was a lot of fun! Lots of memories were made.
