Baseball kickoff

By Hayley Dumesnil

The Guard baseball team had a scrimmage against All Saints this past weekend (January 25). It was the first scrimmage of the baseball season, which began with practice starting after the Christmas Break.

The team played really well for their first game, but they couldn’t pull out the win. They fell to the Trojans 9-4 after a three and a half hour scrimmage.

The team is trying to continue their threepeat state championship streak this year. This will be a difficult accomplishment, because the team is very young this year, with only one senior, a handful of juniors, 8 or 9 sophomores, and a few freshmen.

So far, the boys seem to like their new coach, Brock Lemire, and he really pushes them. They have a few more games in the upcoming weeks before the district season begins in March.
