On Friday, October 25th, Brook Hill fans packed the stands, along with Grace coaches, players, and parents. Grace had a bye week, so they decided to come watch the Guard take on the Parish Episcopal Panthers. The Guard tried their best to beat the Panthers, but their efforts weren’t enough.
The game was scoreless until the last five minutes of the second quarter, when Parish went up 14-0 going into halftime. Parish went on to score twice more in the third quarter, making the score 28-0. They scored their final points in the fourth quarter.
The Guard scored 13 points in the fourth quarter as well. The first Guard touchdown resulted from a pass to Seth Brasher from Grant Hanks. The second touchdown was a pass out of the backfield from Grant Hanks to Gabe Lucio. The final score was 35-13, after the Guard’s second extra point failed.
Gabe Lucio ran the ball sixteen times for 96 yards. Grant Hanks had 105 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. Jacob Dumesnil had three catches for 38 yards and Seth Brasher had four catches for 38 yards as well.
This Friday, November 1st, the Guard will take on Grace Community School in the in-town rivalry at Grace.
